Louisiana Black Bear Delisting
I n t e r n a t i o n a l
PROJECT DURATION: 1992 -2016
The Louisiana Black bear is one of 16 subspecies of the American black bear. The bear was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act back in 1992, but was delisted in 2016 when the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service declared it recovered.
Bear Trust participated in the delisting process of the Louisiana black bear by submitting review comments to the US Fish and Wildlife Service, in collaboration with the East Texas Black Bear Task Force.
